Riddle me this. Why won’t people just ignore Twitter’s new Moments tab? How will Moments make money? Will Twitter pay publishers that create them? Today Twitter launched Moments, its way to easily follow current events that could help it seduce new users and revive those who never got hooked.
Along with the release of its new feature, Moments, Twitter shared a set of guidelines and principles that drive the curation team that powers it, as well as its external partners. Algorithms only pop up what’s trending; it’s up to human beings to assemble these Moments. While Twitter isn’t becoming a news organization itself, Moments does have them dabbling in a curation…
Reddit, the squirrely site that has more links to content than you can shake a stick at, has launched a new site with new content. It’s called Upvoted, and it’s a digital magazine of sorts with original digital bits inspired from the community but coming directly from the mothership.
Jack Dorsey has returned to his creation and with him comes the hope of bringing more people onto the platform. Maybe they’ll never tweet. Maybe they’ll never follow anyone…but they’ll hopefully get caught up in a Moment or two. Or millions of them.
